DEPUTY IS BEATEN BY PRISONER
A forty-year-old Sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized early Friday morning after receiving a severe judo-like blow in the abdomen from a burly man picked up on a drunk charge at a swank Strip hotel.
Admitted to the Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital was Deputy George Hart who doctors say has a large pocket of gas beneath his rib cage causing pressure on his lungs and heart. He is expected to be confined for two or three days.
Under Sheriff Lloyd Bell said Hart punched in the stomach and kicked by Terrence Randolph Holsebus, 39, of 1712 N. Valley Dr. He was booked for drunk and resisting arrest.

LOCAL DEPUTY LOSES BATTLE FOR HIS LIFE
Deputy George Hart lost a three-week downhill battle for his own life early today and succumbed at the Southern Nevada Memorial hospital.
District Attorney George Dickerson said that an autopsy will be conducted, probably today, and if it can be shown that Hart died as the result of injuries received from a punch in the stomach, involuntary manslaughter charges will be filed against a Las Vegan.
…The deputy resided at 2009 Linden St. with his wife Helyne. Although the couple had no children, Hart had four sons by a previous marriage. He also has a brother, Frank, who is a sergeant on the police force in Reno.
