Bureau of Indian Affairs Captain Dies
Fernley – A traffic accident on Interstate 80 has claimed the life of a veteran Bureau of Indian Affairs captain.
Jack Spencer, 55, of Carson City, was killed in a two vehicle collision Saturday about 10 miles east of Fernley.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said Spencer’s vehicle was westbound as it approached a west bound truck rig from behind.
Troopers said Spencer became inattentive for an unknown reason and his vehicle struck the rear of the rig. Spencer was ejected when his vehicle rolled.
Spencer was an 18-year BIA veteran who was in charge of 11 colonies in Nevada. He was on duty when the crash occurred. The driver of the rig escaped unharmed.
