Campus Officer Dies in Wreck; Chief Injured
Thomas Allen Burner, member of the University of Nevada police force was killed, and Bobbie Malone, campus chief of police, suffered serious injuries, when their car went off U.S. Highway 95 near Coaldale Junction at 9:30 p.m. Friday.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said Burner was driving the vehicle when he apparently lost control on a curve. The car struck a marker post, went into a culvert, returned to the highway and rolled over three times, patrolmen who investigated said.
He suffered serious head, arm and internal injuries, patrolmen said.
Burner and Malone had attended a police teletype seminar in Tonopah and were returning home when the accident occurred…
Burner, a Reno resident since 1946, was born in Luray, Va. Feb.6, 1926… Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Pearl B. Burner, three children, Marilyn, Boyd and Scott Burner of Reno, and seven brothers…
